Today, I was walking back to my room from my classes and guy in a wheelchair passed by me. He was carrying a backpack that said “Arcadia Invitational (forgot what year, i think it was 2010)” and it was the Track backpack that I saw many times on campus at Arcadia High. I kind of wanted to catch up to him, but I didn’t want to scare him by running up and just stopping him in the middle of the path where 10,000 people just came out of class. I was curious and just wanted to talk to him and ask him some stuff. I don’t know if I ever would’ve had the guts to but what got to me was that he had the invitational backpack for track events.. but he was in a wheelchair? I’ve seen him pushing himself on his wheelchair a few times before, but I never noticed the Arcadia Invitational backpack before today.
Another interesting thing was that today, when of my suitemates was coming back from somewhere and I was wearing my Arcadia jacket and she looked at her backpack and was like “o_o you’re from Arcadia?” And she looked at her backpack again and she showed me and it was another Arcadia Invitational backpack, but it looked different from the other guy’s.
It’s kind of funny how you’re reminded of your high school in unexpected ways.
